Do you see yourself still boogying around with loads of tokens that litter the narrative board? Do you make a mess of playing? Well, it seems some of that is over now with a small company from Poland. It seems they actually reinvented the wargaming wheel. Let’s take a look at the products we have here and how Epic Loot Box they can better our gaming experience.
We are talking about dials, but modular. These can not only improve the wargames we play. From card games to even the simplest family boardgames, these do the job.
Introducing Epic Loot Box
Yes, we have talked about the mailings and the now infamous “samples?” question a million times already, but this was one of these mails in the first place. As you all have read the previous (or at least, I hope) blogs about this topic. We did just the opposite of just getting samples. We got the samples, played the games and bought a carton of it to sell on conventions. As of now, we have sold about 45-50 boxes of them. This just shows that sometimes, sometimes it just works out.
With Epic Loot Box, this is the same story. They mailed, I called them out and they sent. 100% trust win for us, and we got the product from Poland in 2 (!) days. We agreed i would show them to the demo team before buying. I wanted the shipment to be in time for Fantasy Fest, to see what the audience thought of them.

Small Boxes with big use
The first time I opened them, they felt like generic dials. When I pulled them apart, you could see the versatility of these little buggers. They are modular due to them being connected with earth magnets. They just click into place because the magnets are dented in the middle of the dial, so that when they connect, lock into place. You can then spin them to portray the wounds, life or whatever you want them to show in your particular game.
Simply said, if you play card games, wargames, boardgames or whatever games that require you to register some form of points, these dials are for you.
Different Types of Dials From Epic Loot Box
Out of the whole product line-up that Epic Loot Box has, there are 2 double product with a different print, being the 0-9 dials. Single stacked dials that portray the numbers 0-9. Simple. One is with runes of sorts on them and the other… not. These are available in 20mm and 25mm.
The next one is a 0-59 dial, which has both the 25mm and 20mm dial on it to get to 59. the 25mm dial gives 0-5 and the 20mm dial on top gives 0-9, which adds up.
The last one is the 0-99 dial, which is basically a double 0-9 20mm dial, built in a block to have them shown both at the same time.
This fills up all the slots you could ever want in points of sorts registration.

The Quality of the Dials
The proven part in the manufacturing is the colored acryl they used for the dials. The magnets fit snug into the acryl, so that nothing flops around when using the dials. They feel as a one piece product.
Where Does the Versatility Come From Then?
Good question! Glad you asked! You can take them apart easily because of the used magnets. Since every product has x amount of colors they made the dials from, you can easily swap out the different colors. If you for instance play Magic the Gathering and want a specialized color to match your deck, you can do so, as there is enough to go around. If you are playing Green Black decks, you can make green black dials.
Besides the dials itself being straight forward, there is no real benefit besides having some fun with the colors provided. The colors are pretty randomly placed in the blisters for sales, but i could imagine in a later stage, getting certain colors to match certain items or characters in games. Think of a Wood Elf Character in Dungeons and Dragons or other Roleplaying games, which are mostly brown, green of color, and having a brown or dark green base with a light green dial on them.
But what about that Gruul Deck MTG we were just talking about? Well, easy, take a green or black base and a green or black top. Bam! Both colors represented in the set. Since there are not only opaque colors in the boxes, but also translucent, you could make a full green or full black one as well. There is no end to the awesomeness.
Effective Application in a Diversity of Games
A dial is just a dial, but this does not mean that a dial should be the same every time. What we mean with this, is that sometimes it’s wound tokens, mostly in wargames, but also could be used card games as a life counter, token counter or even a simple round counter. Whatever lets you need to keep a registry that contains numbers, these are for you. If you feel the need to check them out yourself, you can do so at CCGwinkel, where we offer all things gaming in one place.
Since we got the samples, we do not only use them as demo for the packed goods on conventions, but in our own games ourselves, and it literally sped up the game by becoming less littered with tokens of sorts, because we now have a dial for everything registry.
A small thing can change a game a lot when it comes to fluidity and ease of play, so we can’t recommend them enough. Think we are biased? Check them out for yourself then!
The owners of the company are nice people too, so that adds up to the awesomeness!
See you next time for another blog.
