Role-Playing

Role playing is the common term for a social exciting get-together. People solve riddles, quests, and fight ferocious monsters as heroes. These heroes are made by the people that play them and will grow in strength, wisdom and more attributes.

Role-playing started in the early 1980s and has become more popular since that time. More companies have their focus on creating fantastic fantasy and sci-fi worlds. Millions of people are playing these games and whole conventions are dedicated to them.

More Ways to Play

There is a diversity of methods to play role-playing games, but on this side we focus on the ttrpg (Tabletop Role-Playing Game) or pen and paper variant. You can use models and terrain to make it more clear what is happening on the table.

Companies like Hasbro (Dungeons and Dragons), Free League (Tales from the Loop, Alien and Vaesen to name a few), and Wizzkids (Pathfinder 2.0) are the titanic leaders of this niche. Free League is supported by CCGwinkel, but there is terrain support by Archon Studio (Dungeons and Lasers)

One-Shot or Campaign?

Game Campaigns are run by DM’s (Dungeon Masters) or GM’s (Game Masters). These campaigns can take several hours for a single session, but also take several decades. This is wholly dependent on how close the friend group is and how willing they are to continue the campaign.

A one-shot is gaining popularity and the perfect answer to our busy lives. This is a one night session. The characters are most likely to die and are forgettable. The focus here is pure fun. Most of the time the sessions are more brutal and play like an action movie.
