Oh my, time flies, It’s already time for part 6 in this Warcrow series. In this blog we are going to look into the 2 player Battle box. Haven’t read the previous episodes of the Roald to Lindwurm? If you want to read up on the rest, you can do so here.

The Warcrow Day 1 releases

Like all the new games on the market today, there are a couple of products that will get you started in the Warcrow Universe.

Warcrow

Assuming, from what we have seen in the shown information, there is a rules book, a 2 player battle box and some mystery miniature. I have a gut feeling that if you take both products, you will get the mystery mini for free as a pre-order or release special. For now, and today, we will take a look at the 2 player battle box

The Warcrow 2 Player Battle Box

The Warcrow battle box is a 2 player starter set to get you and a friend (or you alone if you don’t want to share) into the game. It shares its DNA with the 2 player sets that we see in Infinity Initiation sets. The idea behind them is simple. You have everything to start the game. Simply saying that if you have never had a miniature or played a game, you can buy one of these sets and have everything you need to start and learn the game.

Winds from the North promises to be exactly that. Get yourself the box, and you will be paying Warcrow in no time.

Now you know what a starter set is, let’s take a look into the box itself.

Inside the beautiful Warcrow Starter Set

Then, the time has arrived. Your starter set comes in from the mail, or you come back from a convention where you picked it up. It’s time to unwrap it and open the chest of love for the first time.

You will find tokens. Tokens for wounds, stress and other conditions. What will you be using them on? Profile sheets of course! One per unit or character.

Next up you will find the tools to play the game. A round tracker, movement templates and Warcrow custom dice. Warcrow doesn’t use a tape measure as it’s being measured in strides. They do have stride measurement.

Then we find the paperwork like the rulebook. The 2 player starter sets have typically a watered down version of the complete rulebook. This is all the more reason to get yourself a full size rulebook with it and score that mystery miniature!

But Wait, There’s More!

Of course there is. Since they assume one can start their wargames adventure from scratch, you need to have terrain. You get a play mat, a set of cardboard terrain and some flat pieces like forest, ponds and fences.

Then, in the bottom of the box (could also be the top of course) there is what you have been looking at in the video series, accompanied by this blog, the miniatures!

14 gloriously and perfect detailed miniatures. 7 for the Hegemony of Embersig and 7 Orcs of the Northern tribes. They are split in a 4 model unit, 2 support characters (one a spellcaster), and a leader for each faction.

Beyond Winds from the North

Next up, we know that there will be a Beyond Winds from the North box set, which will add three new miniatures of the starter set forces and will contain the profiles for them, but not much more is known at this point. Also, Corvus Belli has promised us monthly releases to keep up with the demand a raving audience will have for this game.

Warcrow Adventures

Yes, Warcrow is accompanied by another game in the Warcrow universe, called Warcrow Adventures. This is a tabletop dungeon crawler, with PVC board game miniatures instead of the thermoplastic ones in the wargame. Nonetheless, this will be a must-have for me, and I can only assume for you guys too, since it’s a good source to get the Scions of Yalbadeoth faster than the Skirmish releases. Besides that, it looks like a solid fun game to play, so why not.

So, that’s it for now. I can’t stress you enough to have a good read on all the marvelous stuff we have here on this blog and if you want to join the pre-order tribe for the game, click the link here to get you to where you need to be.

Till next time friends! ONWARDS TOWARDS LINDWURM!
