Wargaming
The term Wargaming, stands for a diversity of games, played on a physical table. This table is most of the time decorated with an in-scale battlefield. The game is played with units of models, ranging from 6 mm to 75 mm.
Depending on the style of wargame, a night of wargaming could be a skirmish game, a rank and flank game or a massive tabletop battleground. This also means that there are differences in amount of models in a “unit”.
Skirmish games
A skirmish is a smaller variant of wargames. Most of the time the units are single models or a max of 4–5 models per unit. There is also a max of about 15 units per side. The play area is most of the time around 3×3 to 4×4.
Rank and Flank and
Massive tabletop Wargaming
These are the games with big battles fought out on a 6×4 foot table. Units contain 10 to 60 models and have a bigger overview of the battlefield, with less terrain to maneuver. Flanking is more important here than anything else.
The bigger the units become, the smaller the minis to fit on the table. Epic scale miniatures range from 6 mm to 15 mm and can fit a lot more on the table than the regular 28 mm scale minis.
